Warranty Policy
1. Statutory warranty
As a consumer, you are entitled to a product that is fit for purpose. This is established under Dutch consumer law.
- All products from Schuifwand Wereld come with the statutory warranty. This means a product must meet what you can reasonably expect of it based on the agreement.
- The statutory warranty is separate from any additional warranties we offer. An additional warranty never limits your statutory rights.
- If a product does not conform to the agreement (is non-conforming), you are entitled to repair, replacement or (partial) refund in accordance with the law.
2. Manufacturer warranty — 5 years
Schuifwand Wereld offers a 5-year manufacturer warranty on all glass sliding wall systems, starting from the delivery date.
- This warranty applies to the complete sliding wall system: glass panels, aluminium profiles, rails.
- The 5-year warranty period begins on the delivery date as stated on the invoice.
- The manufacturer warranty is transferable upon sale of the product, provided the original proof of purchase or invoice is available.
- Accessories and wear parts (such as brushes, sealing rubbers and wheels) are covered by a 1-year warranty.
3. What IS covered by the warranty
The warranty covers defects resulting from:
- Manufacturing defects: errors that occurred during the production process.
- Material defects: defects in the glass, aluminium or other materials used that are not the result of external factors.
- Structural defects: problems with the construction of the sliding wall system that affect functionality, such as panels not closing or opening properly.
- Coating and surface defects: peeling or detaching coating on aluminium profiles under normal use and maintenance.
4. What is NOT covered by the warranty
The warranty does not apply in the following cases:
- Improper installation or assembly: damage caused by the product not being installed in accordance with the supplied assembly manual.
- Normal wear and tear: gradual wear of moving parts, seals and brushes during normal use.
- Damage by the consumer or third parties: scratches, dents, breakage or other damage caused by careless use, impact, or work carried out near the product.
- Incorrect or negligent maintenance: damage resulting from not performing or incorrectly performing the prescribed maintenance (see section 9).
- Extreme weather conditions and natural phenomena: damage from hail, storm (wind force 10+), flooding, earthquakes or lightning strikes.
- Modifications to the product: damage caused by adaptations, modifications or repairs not carried out by or on behalf of Schuifwand Wereld.
- Use contrary to intended purpose: the product is designed as a cover/enclosure for verandas, terraces and balconies. Use for other purposes is outside the warranty scope.
- Cosmetic variations: minor colour differences between production batches, minimal surface irregularities that do not affect functionality.
5. Filing a warranty claim
Follow the steps below to file a warranty claim:
- Step 1: Contact us at info@schuifwandwereld.nl with the subject "Warranty claim" followed by your order number.
- Step 2: Describe the problem as clearly as possible. State when the problem occurred and under what circumstances.
- Step 3: Attach photo and/or video material that clearly shows the defect. Photos of the entire product and close-up photos of the defect are required.
- Step 4: Include your order number and invoice number, or a copy of the purchase confirmation.
- Step 5: We will confirm receipt of your claim within 5 business days and inform you about the follow-up process.
- Always keep your proof of purchase. Without a valid proof of purchase, we cannot process your warranty claim.
6. Inspection and assessment
After receiving your warranty claim, we follow the process below:
- We assess your claim based on the submitted visual material and description. If necessary, we will contact you for additional information.
- In some cases, a physical on-site inspection may be required. The costs for this are borne by Schuifwand Wereld if the claim proves to be justified.
- After assessment, you will receive a written response within 10 business days with the result: approval, rejection (with reasoning) or a proposed solution.
- For a justified claim, we will arrange free repair or replacement of the defective part.
- The entrepreneur determines in consultation with the consumer whether repair or replacement is most appropriate.
7. Tolerances for custom products
Glass sliding wall systems are precision custom work. The following tolerances apply and do not constitute grounds for a warranty claim:
- Dimensions: a tolerance of ±2mm on specified measurements is standard for glass products and meets the industrial norm.
- Colour of aluminium profiles: minor colour variations between different production batches are inherent to the anodizing and coating process.
- Glass thickness: the specified glass thickness has a tolerance in accordance with European standard EN 572 for float glass.
- Glass flatness: minimal waviness in the glass surface is inherent to tempered glass and does not constitute a defect.
- Optical distortion: with tempered glass, a slight optical distortion (anisotropy) may be visible under certain lighting conditions. This is a normal characteristic of the tempering process.
8. Delivery inspection
A careful inspection upon delivery is essential for maintaining your warranty rights.
- Upon delivery, immediately check the products for transport damage, missing parts and correctness of the order.
- Visible damage or defects must be reported directly to the delivery driver and noted on the delivery receipt.
- Transport damage must be reported in writing (by email) to Schuifwand Wereld immediately upon delivery, including photos of the damage and packaging.
- Keep the original packaging until you have fully inspected and possibly installed the product.
- Failure to report visible damage within the stated period may affect your right to warranty with regard to the reported damage.
9. Maintenance requirements for warranty validity
To keep the warranty valid, the product must be regularly and correctly maintained:
- Glass panels: clean at least 4 times per year with clean water and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent. Do not use aggressive chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Aluminium profiles: clean at least twice per year with a damp cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive agents that may damage the coating.
- Rail and guide systems: keep the rails free of dirt, sand and leaves. Clean at least 4 times per year and lubricate moving parts annually with silicone spray.
- Locking mechanisms and locks: lubricate annually with a suitable lubricant as specified in the supplied manual.
- Failure to comply with these maintenance instructions may result in the warranty becoming void for the relevant parts.
